Write down and circle the words, phrases and images from the dream that you deem important.
Make associations to the circled words.
A. Say the word aloud and see what the mind sees or the body feels.
B. Use both positive and negative associations.

3. Listen for the association that fits: it clicks, a ha, eureka. The association that clicks is
the correct association.
A. Write the word and make associations. In the example below the word is
blue. The association is depression.
B. Highlight or circle the word that clicks:
I blew it
note sky
car BLUE pen
jazz ocean
eyes. depression
4. Translation:
A. Go through the whole list of words/symbols in the dream.
B. Using the association that clicks, ask the question, "What part of me is that?" or
Where have I seen that part of me functioning? or How might this association
be commenting about my life?
C. For example, blue may mean depression here. A question to ask is, "where have I
been depressed lately?"
5. Meaning
A. What does the dream mean? Why did the dream come to me?
B. If stuck to the meaning, first argue the dream positively then negatively and
experience how it feels to you each way.
C. Bounce dreams off others you trust. Listen in the discussion for what makes sense
to you as you reflect on your current life situation.
D. Use the translated symbols as you ask the question, "What is the message the
dream is trying to get across?
6. Do
A. Respond to the dream in a physical but safe way. Do not act out the dream except
symbolically.
B. Ceremony: doing something about the inner world. For example, if your dream is
about dancing, you could create a dance.
