A Mindful Walk
Take a walk around your neighborhood or a park if you’d prefer. Can you practice various aspects of mindfulness including mindful walking?
A. While walking, focus your awareness on your ‘STEPS’ and breath if possible. Use this focus on the breath-body to ground yourself as you practice
B. After you feel grounded, can you be mindful of any sights, sounds, smells or physical sensations that arise as you walk. Focus your awareness for a few moments on a sight, sound, or sensation of which you become mindful. When you like, you can return your attention to your breath and STEPS.
If repetitive thoughts distract you from your mindfulness practice, simply notice them, and return your awareness to your breath and STEPS.
After you have finished practicing and have returned home perhaps you could make a few notes about your experience.
